CLPCCD Announces New Chancellor

Ronald P. Gerhard(Dublin, CA) - On April 21, 2020, at its regularly scheduled Board meeting, the Board of Trustees of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District named Mr. Ronald P. Gerhard as permanent chancellor of the District. Gerhard has served as the district's interim chancellor since January 2019. His monthly salary will be $28,333, effective May 1, 2020.

Gerhard has served in multiple roles for the district including vice chancellor of business services for the district and vice president of administrative services at Chabot College. Prior to joining the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District, he served as the vice chancellor for finance and administration at City College of San Francisco, vice chancellor of finance and administration for the Peralta Community College District, the chief business officer for Compton Community College District and held various positions at San Bernardino Community College District from 2001 to 2010. As a seasoned educational administrative leader having served for over 20 years for California community colleges, Mr. Gerhard has provided strategic leadership that is student focused and has demonstrated his ability to bring stakeholders together to achieve organizational goals.

Core to Mr. Gerhard's personal beliefs, is the idea that in providing excellent educational opportunities for students, they are enabled to enhance and strengthen their lives as well as their families and society in general. It is from this belief that Mr. Gerhard finds his drive and passion to advance student learning, educational opportunities and success.

"He has a long and successful history in helping our California Community Colleges become successful institutions of student learning and access. He has been able to help bring our district together, and we are confident that he, along with his leadership team, will guide us through these challenging times."

Gerhard earned a master of business administration degree in finance and accounting from the University of California, Riverside and a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from the University of Redlands.

The Board selected Gerhard as permanent chancellor from a large and outstanding group of candidates from throughout the region, state and nation.
