Scenarios for Campus Engagement

Scenarios for on campus engagements

  • What should I do when a student refuses to wear a mask while receiving services or instruction in person on campus?
    • Students will have been informed throughout the registration process that masks are mandatory for in-person instruction on campus for Summer and Fall 2021. Students who do not comply with the masking requirements may be asked to leave the class for additional consultation regarding the policy, may be recommended to consider on-line instruction, or may be referred to the Office of Student Services for reinforcement of the masking policy or other disciplinary processes as necessary.
  • A student or staff member notifies me they are feeling sick, what should I do?
    • If the student or staff are at home, ensure the person stays at home and seeks health care advice regarding their symptoms. If they are in the classroom or workplace, isolate them to a safe space outdoors and ask if they need assistance to get home or to a healthcare professional. They should be instructed to remain home for 10 days or until symptoms resolve. Staff should report to the supervisor or manager the individual with symptoms and the supervisor or manager shall complete a “Case Response Form” as found on the District website and submit to the COVID Safety Officer within the District. The Covid Safety Officer will provide additional clarification and response to the manager or supervisor on additional steps and precautions necessary depending upon the specifics of the case.
  • A staff member refuses to wear a mask indoors, what should I do?
    • Staff members who witness another staff member not properly wearing a mask may politely ask them to adjust or to put on a mask. If the staff member refuses, please provide a note, email or text message to your supervisor or manager to address the concern with the staff member not complying with District requirements. The supervisor or manager will review the District masking policy with staff and follow up as necessary.
