SUBJECT:  COVID-19 Update

County Health Update: Alameda County has reported 89,201 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,898,851 doses of vaccine administered (last updated June 9, 2021).  This reflects an average weekly increase in confirmed cases of approximately 315 and average weekly increase in the number of vaccine doses administered of 70,000.

It is also important to note:

  • 77.5% of Alameda County residents ages 12 and older have received at least one dose of vaccine and 62.6% are fully vaccinated.
  • We continue to see much lower vaccination rates among our Hispanic/Latino and African American/Black residents.
    • Only 40% of Hispanic/Latino residents are fully vaccinated.
    • Only 39.3% of African American/Black residents are fully vaccinated.

We must continue to educate on the benefits of being vaccinated, strongly encourage consideration of the vaccine, and provide access to the vaccine.

Alameda County is in tier 4 or Yellow.

Our county’s updated figures are:

  • Adjusted number of new COVID-19 cases reported per day, per 100,000 residents.  Most recently, Alameda County has reported 1.5 adjusted cases per day, per 100,000 residents.
  • Overall test positivity rate.  This percentage represents the number of COVID-19 tests that resulted in a positive test result.  Most recently, Alameda County has reported a test positivity rate of 0.7%.
  • Lowest Healthy Places Index (HPI) test positivity rate.  This percentage rate is a measure of different indicators that reflect geographic socioeconomic disadvantage.
  • Most recently, Alameda County has reported a HPI test positivity rate of 1.3%.
